Thanks to the work of FOUR PAWS in Ukraine since 2012, a lot has been achieved for captive brown bears. Nevertheless, many bears in Ukraine are still abused. They are kept, sometimes bred and traded, in poor and inappropriate conditions, without proper food and veterinary care. Many bears linger still on hunting stations, as pets kept by private persons or as attractions near restaurants, hotels, and recreational parks.
